Welcome to Bay of Plenty Breast Cancer Dragon Boat Team, 'Boobops' website. We are a group of keen women, breast cancer survivors that started in 2003. Boobops main focus is to promote wellness, fitness, fun and camaraderie for the breast cancer survivors and supporters.

The team have had an early start to the season, having to train for the Corporate Super 12 in November rather than the traditional March period. As defending Breast Cancer Champs for our local Corporate Super 12 Regatta and defending National title holders, the team have a lot of early reasons to perform well again this year. There have been a few setbacks so early in the season with the RENA oil spill preventing the team from training on the harbour, and having to relocate to our alternative location "The Lakes".

Also with members, recovering from injuries, surgery or waiting to undergo treatment or previous experienced paddlers leaving the team it’s been difficult but no different to earlier years you just have to manage your way through it. With an Open day held in early October it was fantastic to see so many new BC and non BC paddlers joining the club. The thing about BC ladies is they know all about adversity, setbacks, issues and they just "man up" so to speak, rally around and train even harder but keep smiling regardless that’s what makes coaching the team well worth while.

I'm proud to coach the Boobops team again this year (Just as well we won the Nationals last year otherwise I would be out on my ear hahaha) When the team does well at regatta's it's just the icing on the cake for the entire team, for all the hard work they put in during the season. I’m looking forward to another action packed season. 2010 /2011 season all the BC teams have improved tremendously, there is very little between teams, they are fairly evenly matched which is going to produce some very exciting racing this 2011/2012 season.
